Investment in mermaid Films
Many independent films and television projects fail because projects are assembled without due care to the market needs and with little or no development funding. A sound foundation is needed upon which to build, or we simply build a house of cards, which can tumble at any time.
Given the nature of the risk in the film and television industry, the best approach is to package a group of projects that encompass a cross section of type and genre. By packaging such projects, the risk factors involved in development, production and marketing are spread considerably.
Mermaid Films has established a strong foundation on these principles and has as a result, enjoyed great success in the European markets with projects such as “Rapture of the Deep” (also released as Himmel Uber Australien) - a 2 x 90 minute drama series which rated very highly and aired on Sat 1 in Germany in 2007. The series has to date enjoyed sales in over 40 countries including the large markets of Austria, France, Italy and Spain.
Now basing itself in Perth, Western Australia Mermaid Films is expanding and as a result will be able to offer investments in productions in the future as each project is raised to production level.
Mermaid Films will be developing 10 projects each year for the next 2 years.
